Inertization of the Mineral Fraction

Fact

Metals such as copper, aluminum, silver and gold can be recovered efficiently by mechanical separation processes from the dry discharged bottom ash. The remaining residue (mineral) has yet to high residual metal content to be disposed as inert material without further care.

Challenge

Treatment of this mineral fraction with the aim of minimizing the residual freight destined for landfills and a maximum recovery rate.

Solution

Starting with the fine-grained fraction of the mineral residue wet-chemical methods shall be investigated to remove the pollutants (inertization) and recoverable metals.

Tasks ZAR

Lab tests for the inertization of the mineral fraction.

Evaluation of recycling routes and evaluation of large-scale feasibility. Comparison of own results and discoveries with similar projects carried out across Europe.
