Waste to energy, indispensable cornerstone for circular economy

At the suggestion of Professor em. Paul Brunner, a specialized publication on the significance of waste-to-energy plants (WEPs) in the circular economy was authored last year, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the scientific journal "Waste Management and Research".

For Professor Brunner, who is counted among the founders of the goals and principles of Swiss and Austrian waste legislation and previously served as an advisor to the German government and the EU, it was crucial to present the history and role of WEPs in the circular economy. This included considerations of the latest advancements from flagship projects initiated by the Canton of Zurich and the work of the ZAR Foundation, as well as providing a forward-looking perspective within this context.
